Library Rules
The Nakamoto Library is an independent project dedicated to documenting and preserving books about Bitcoin. Our goal is to build the most comprehensive historical record of eligible Bitcoin literature.
Which books qualify?
To be included in the Nakamoto Library, a book must meet the following criteria:
- Bitcoin-focused. Bitcoin must be the primary subject, whether through history, technology, economics, philosophy, or culture. General cryptocurrency, blockchain, Web3, NFT, and altcoin books are excluded, even when they discuss Bitcoin extensively.
- Original content. Books must contain substantial original work, whether nonfiction, fiction, or visual art. Notebooks, planners, coloring books, low-content publications, and superficial compilations are excluded.
- English-language. Only books published in English are included.
- At least 100 pages. Exceptions may be made for works of particular historical significance.
- Written for adults. Children's books and publications primarily intended for young readers are excluded.
- Publicly published. Both traditionally published and self-published books qualify, provided their publication can be verified.
Inclusion is not endorsement.
A book's presence in the Nakamoto Library does not mean we agree with its author, arguments, or conclusions. We document Bitcoin literature, including ideas we disagree with.
We aim for completeness, not curation.
We don't select books based on popularity, sales, literary quality, or ideological alignment. Our ambition is to document every eligible Bitcoin book, from the earliest publications to the latest releases.
Authors deserve attribution.
Every book is credited to its author or authors. Author names link to their X account or Wikipedia page when available.
Historical information matters.
Whenever possible, we document publication dates, original covers, and the price of Bitcoin at the time of publication. Historical Bitcoin prices are provided for context, not as investment advice.
The physical library is a work in progress.
The Nakamoto Library is building a physical collection of the books documented on this website. We aim to open the library on January 3rd 2027. We welcome donated copies of books already listed in the library.
Anyone can suggest a missing book.
Authors, publishers, and readers are welcome to suggest books that meet our criteria. Submissions are reviewed for eligibility and factual accuracy. Inclusion cannot be purchased.
Accuracy is an ongoing effort.
We strive to maintain accurate information, but mistakes happen. The library will evolve as new books are published and older works are discovered.
